Yes it happened! The much awaited, anticipated, thought-through- you name it. Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1. If you were hoping to buy a pair, and if you managed to do so, first of all congratulations!
About Air Force 1
Nike Air Force 1 was designed in 1982 by Bruce Kilgore. It is one of the most successful designed shoes ever created by Nike. It is safe to say the fame kicked off in 1988, when DJ E-Z Rock wore the shoes (custom) and appeared on the cover of the album “It Takes Two”
Virgil Abloah and AF1
Louis Vuitton named Virgil Abloh as their new men’s artistic director in 2018. This appointment is a historic one, as he was considered the most powerful Black executive in the world’s most powerful luxury group – LVMH. Due to his unfortunate passing in November of 2021, Aboloh couldn’t execute everything that he planned and envisioned for Louis Vuitton.
Before his appointment at Louis Vuitton, Abloh produced a number of collaborations with Nike through his design label “Off-White”. This is the exact vision he had for LV, to be able to connect streetwear, high-fashion and pop culture. This is probably the reason why he picked the legendary Nike Air Force 1 to “Refashion” to collaborate with Louis Vuitton.
